A major human rights group, Amnesty International, released a new report this week. It accuses the Iranian government of committing "crimes against humanity" during the protest crackdowns in 2022.

The report says that Iranian security forces did not just stop protests. Instead, they used organized violence. This included murder, torture, and sexual abuse against the people who were out in the streets demanding change.

The group calls the people responsible for these actions the "Architects of Atrocities." They are calling for international justice to hold those leaders accountable for their actions.

While this report comes out, the Iranian government is showing its own strength. Just two days after the anniversary of the protests, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards held a large military show of force. This is seen by many as a way for the government to remind the public who is in charge.

Experts who follow the region say that even though the government is using force, the feelings of the people have changed forever. They argue that a "psychological revolution" has already taken place in the country, meaning people’s minds have shifted against the current leadership regardless of the violence on the streets.

For now, the situation in Iran remains tense. The government continues to display its military power, while international groups are demanding that the world pay attention to the human rights abuses that took place last year.
