Is the UK thinking about joining the European Union again? Recent news suggests the idea is back on the table.
France and Spain have both said they would be happy to have the UK back in the EU. These two countries are major players in Europe. Their support is a big deal for anyone who wants the UK to return to the trade bloc.
Back at home, things are moving too. Reports say the UK government is starting to look for evidence on how people feel about this. They want to know if the public actually wants to go back to being part of the EU.
Andy Burnham, a well-known politician in the Labour Party, also made headlines. He suggested that holding another vote—a referendum—on joining the EU could be a possibility for a future election plan.
For now, nothing is decided. It is just the start of a much bigger conversation. But with other European countries waving a welcoming hand, the door for the UK to rejoin looks more open than it has been in a long time.
