EU Pledges Billions to Help Ukraine Through the Winter

The European Union is stepping up its support for Ukraine. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced that the EU will send €3.3 billion to help the country buy more missiles and drones.
This money is part of a larger plan to make sure Ukraine has what it needs to defend itself as the cold winter months approach. Officials warned that Russia is putting more pressure on European cities, making it vital to boost Ukraine’s air defense systems right now.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also shared some positive news. He said that a group of countries working together to fight against incoming missiles is growing. He also mentioned that a new project called 'Freyja' is moving forward. This is a new defense system that is expected to be tested for the first time later this year.
The EU says this is the strongest level of support they have ever given to Ukraine. They want to make sure the country is ready for the challenges of the coming months.
