Europe and China are having a very serious argument right now. It is all about trade—specifically, how many Chinese products are arriving in Europe.
European leaders are worried that Chinese companies are selling goods, especially electric cars, at prices that are way too low. They call this 'dumping.' When things are priced that cheaply, local European companies struggle to compete and might even go out of business.
Because of this, Europe is taking a much tougher stance. An official from the European Union just flew to China to hold last-ditch talks. The goal is to figure out if there is a way to fix the unfair trade gap before things get worse.
It isn't just about cars, though. The European Parliament is also demanding an end to what they call spying and dumping. Meanwhile, countries like France and Germany are looking for new 'weapons'—or special rules—they can use to stop the flood of Chinese products from hurting their own workers.
Basically, Europe feels like its market is being overwhelmed. They want fairer rules. If these new talks don't go well, we might see new taxes or limits placed on products coming from China very soon.
