If your grocery bill feels a little higher lately, you aren’t imagining it. A new report from the United Nations says that food prices around the world went up again in September.
Prices are now near their highest point in four years. This jump is mostly because the cost of cereals and sugar has climbed.
Experts say two big problems are causing this. First, the weather hasn't been great for farming in many places. Second, moving food from one place to another has become more difficult and expensive. When it’s harder to get products to the store, the price for you goes up.
This trend is worrying for countries everywhere. Even places like Montenegro are looking at how this new wave of high prices might affect people living there.
While the situation is currently at its highest point since the end of 2022, leaders and organizations are keeping a close eye on the market to see how long these costs will stay so high.
