AMMAN — Jordan has sounded an urgent alarm regarding the future of Jerusalem’s most significant Muslim religious sites, warning of an 'imminent' threat of an Israeli takeover. In response to the escalating tensions, the Hashemite Kingdom has announced the convening of a high-level ministerial meeting to address the deteriorating situation in occupied Jerusalem.

The diplomatic push, which has drawn participants from across the region and beyond, aims to coordinate a unified stance against what Amman describes as aggressive Israeli policies targeting the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, known to Jews as the Temple Mount.

Among those slated to attend the emergency gathering is Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, according to statements from the Pakistani Foreign Office. Additionally, Turkish officials have confirmed the participation of their top diplomat, signaling a broad international interest in the preservation of the current status quo at the holy site.

Jordan, which maintains a special role as the custodian of Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem under the 'Hashemite Custodianship,' has long argued that Israeli incursions and administrative changes threaten the delicate balance that has governed the compound for decades.
