Researchers have found something amazing at the bottom of Lake Arendsee in Germany. They pulled up pieces of wood that were carved about 10,500 years ago.
This is a big deal because it changes what we thought we knew about history. For a long time, experts believed that people only started building permanent structures once they became farmers. Farming started in this area much later than 10,500 years ago.
These pieces of wood show that the people living there back then were not just wandering around without a plan. They were hunter-gatherers, meaning they survived by hunting animals and picking wild plants. Even though they hadn't started farming yet, they were already clever enough to build things with wood.
Finding these timbers proves that ancient people were much more advanced than we gave them credit for. They were using tools and building structures thousands of years before the first farms appeared in the region.
This discovery helps us get a better picture of how our ancestors lived. It shows that even in the Stone Age, humans were busy building homes or shelters to make their lives better.
