People living in the Ukrainian town of Oleshky are running out of food and medicine. The town is currently under the control of Russian forces. Officials say that Russian troops are making the situation much worse on purpose.

Reports show that when people try to send food to the town using small drones, Russian soldiers intercept and steal the supplies. Civilians who have tried to leave the area have even been hurt or killed by landmines left on the roads.

The Ukrainian government is now asking other countries to step in. They want the international community to pressure Russia to end what they are calling a 'siege.' A siege means surrounding a place and cutting off all supplies to force people to give up or starve.

Church leaders in Ukraine have reached out to the Pope, asking him to help stop the suffering in the town. They are worried that the lack of food and medicine will turn into a full-scale humanitarian crisis.

International reporters and organizations like the Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention say the shortages are getting worse every day. For now, the people trapped in Oleshky are facing a desperate struggle just to find something to eat.
