Putin's Party Wins Big in Russian Election
The pro-Putin party keeps control of the Russian parliament after a vote where they won a massive majority.

Vladimir Putin’s political party has kept its hold on Russia’s parliament. Official results show they won a supermajority, which is a very large number of seats that lets them pass almost any law they want.
In total, the party took 355 seats. This means they are firmly in charge of how the country makes its laws.
Critics are pointing out that this was a carefully controlled event. While the government says the people have spoken, others argue the vote was not a fair race. Very few people who are against the current war were able to get any power at all. One small group that opposes the war did manage to get a tiny foothold in one region, but they have very little say in the big picture.
There is also a new change in the group of people serving in the government. A total of 49 people who fought in the war in Ukraine were elected to the parliament this time.
With this win, Putin has tightened his grip on the country. Most analysts say this result was expected, as the election was set up to make sure his party stayed in power without much trouble.
