Russia’s new fast drones are overwhelming Ukraine’s air defenses
Russia is now using jet-powered drones that are too fast for most Ukrainian defenses, forcing a desperate race to build new interceptor technology.

Russia has started using new, jet-powered drones to attack Ukraine. These drones are much faster than the older models Ukraine is used to fighting. Because they move so quickly, Ukraine’s current air defense systems are having a very hard time stopping them.
These new drones are causing major problems. They are showing up in broad daylight and turning cities like Kyiv into dangerous war zones. It has become a game of cat and mouse where the defenses just aren't keeping up.
To try and fix this, the Ukrainian government and defense companies are scrambling. They are building new 'interceptor' drones. These are essentially fast defensive drones designed to chase down and crash into the incoming Russian jets to destroy them before they hit their targets.
On the ground, officials are also trying basic, low-tech fixes. They have started setting up razor fences and other physical barriers to block or snag low-flying drones.
Technology companies are under a lot of pressure to speed up production. One company, Neros, is working to finish a new, high-speed drone specifically built to bring down these Russian jets.
Right now, it is a race against time. Russia keeps sending faster machines, and Ukraine is working as hard as it can to build the technology needed to shoot them down.
