Ukraine is stepping up its attacks on targets inside Russia. They are hitting factories and oil sites that help keep Russia's war effort going.
Here is what happened recently:
- A private intelligence firm says Ukraine hit a factory that builds missiles for the Russian military.
- In the Samara region, a major oil hub caught fire after explosions.
- Near Volgograd, there were reports of fires at an oil refinery and a chemical plant.
- Ukraine also said they destroyed a warehouse near Volnovakha where Russia kept its drones.
These attacks are happening even though some leaders, including Donald Trump, have suggested that Ukraine should avoid strikes that might make the conflict worse. Ukraine says these sites are fair targets because they provide the fuel and weapons used to attack them.
Ukraine has been using long-range drones to reach these spots. By hitting oil refineries and military factories, Ukraine is trying to hurt Russia’s ability to pay for the war and supply its troops on the front lines.
