College leader accused of using AI to write his articles

A top leader at Dartmouth College is facing questions about how he writes his work. Santiago Schnell is the school’s provost, which means he is in charge of academic affairs.
Recently, people looked at several opinion pieces and academic papers written by Schnell. They ran his writing through a tool called Pangram. This is a piece of software that claims to detect if a computer wrote a text instead of a person.
According to the tests, the tool flagged Schnell's work as being written by AI.
Many schools are currently struggling to figure out how to handle AI tools like ChatGPT. Students are often told they must do their own work. Now, the conversation has turned toward those in high-ranking positions.
Schnell has not yet fully addressed why his work was flagged. This story is still developing as the college looks into the findings.
