Elon Musk recently caused a stir by posting on social media that three Canadian provinces—Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba—should break away from Canada.
His comments quickly drew attention from leaders across the country.
Mark Carney, a prominent Canadian voice, said that the future of Canada will be decided by Canadians themselves, not by a tech billionaire from outside the country.
Leaders in Alberta and Saskatchewan also spoke up. They made it clear that they are not interested in leaving Canada. They shut down the idea immediately, showing that they have no plans to separate.
Pierre Poilievre, who leads the opposition in Canada, also brushed off the comments. He said that Canadians are in charge of their own destiny. He did not seem to take the suggestion seriously.
While Musk’s comments were shared widely online, they have been met with mostly negative reactions from Canadian officials. The message from the government and local leaders is simple: Canada stays together, and they aren't looking for advice on their borders from Elon Musk.
