There is big news coming out of Germany today after voters went to the polls.
In Berlin, a far-left party has come out on top. They ran their campaign on a bold idea: they want the government to take control of houses that are currently owned by large companies. They say this will make rent cheaper and housing easier to find for everyone.
At the same time, the far-right party gained a lot of support in the northeastern part of Germany. This shows that people in different parts of the country have very different ideas about how things should be run.
Political experts are watching these results closely. Some are calling this a test of whether "populist" ideas—which are ideas meant to appeal directly to the common person by promising big changes—can actually work in a major city like Berlin. Others are worried that these radical changes to housing could hurt the city's economy.
