Big protests led by young people have turned violent in Germany. Tens of thousands of people gathered in the streets to complain about the rising cost of living. People are upset because food, gas, and rent are getting too expensive.
What started as a protest quickly turned into a riot. In Frankfurt, things got out of control. Some people began looting shops, which means they broke into stores and stole things. There were also clashes between the protesters and the police.
German government leaders are very angry about what happened. They have promised a tough response to the violence and the looting. They said they will make sure the people responsible face consequences.
Officials also claim that some outside troublemakers joined the crowds. They believe these infiltrators—people who sneak into a group to cause trouble—are the ones who turned a peaceful protest into a dangerous situation.
Police are now working to keep the streets safe. For now, the government is focusing on calming things down while promising to look into the problems that caused people to protest in the first place.
