Lockheed Martin just showed off a new piece of military technology. It is called the PAC-3 Edge. It is a new version of the Patriot missile, which is used to shoot down incoming threats from the sky.

Why does this matter? Today, some countries are building "hypersonic" missiles. These are weapons that fly faster than anything we have seen before. They move so quickly that it is very hard for current defense systems to catch them.

Lockheed Martin says the PAC-3 Edge is built to fix this problem. It is designed to be much more agile. Think of it like a sports car compared to a big truck. It can turn and change directions much faster, which helps it track and hit these ultra-fast targets.

The company is betting big on this new tech. As missile technology gets faster and more dangerous, countries want better ways to protect themselves. By making the Patriot system smarter and quicker, Lockheed hopes to stay ahead of these new threats.

This is not a totally new system from scratch. Instead, it is a major upgrade to the Patriot missiles that are already being used by the U.S. and its allies. By giving the missile better "brains" and better control, they think it can take down even the most modern missiles.

Lockheed is aiming to keep their defense technology ahead of the competition, ensuring that these new, speedy missiles don't reach their targets.
