Town in Germany stops new Holocaust memorials

A town in Germany called Heidenau has decided to stop putting down new Holocaust memorials. These memorials are known as 'stumbling stones.'
Stumbling stones are small brass plates. They are placed in the sidewalk in front of houses where people lived before the Nazis took them away during the Holocaust. The goal is to remind people of those who were killed.
The local council voted against adding more of these stones. The decision was led by members of the AfD party and the CDU party.
Many people are unhappy with this choice. These stones are meant to help us remember history and honor the victims. Opponents of the ban say that by stopping these memorials, the town is trying to hide or forget the past.
Supporters of the ban have not fully explained why they want to stop the project. This decision has caused a lot of talk and anger in the area.
