A huge wave of young people is taking over the streets in India's capital city. They are protesting against the government. They say there was cheating during the recent voting process, also known as voter fraud.
These protesters have given themselves a nickname: the 'Cockroaches.' They chose this name because they want to show the government that they are hard to get rid of. Even when the authorities try to stop them or quiet them down, they keep showing up.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently spoke about the situation. He called India the 'mother of democracy.' He says his government is strong and that the country is doing well. But the people on the street do not agree.
Major news groups like The New York Times, The Economist, and The Washington Post report that this is a very difficult time for Modi. He is facing a challenge from young people that he has not seen before.
Even after a lockdown meant to stop the crowds, the protesters keep flowing into the city. They say they will keep marching until their voices are heard and the election results are looked at again. For now, it is a tense standoff between the government and a new generation that refuses to back down.
