Back in 1963, a 23-year-old hiker was exploring the mountains in Austria. Suddenly, he fell into a deep crack in the ice, known as a crevasse. To survive the fall, he had to leave his backpack behind. He eventually made it out, but he thought his bag was gone forever.

Now, 60 years later, that same man is 86 years old. Because of rising temperatures, the glacier melted enough to reveal the lost bag. Hikers passing by the area found it and turned it in to the local police.

Inside the backpack, authorities found the man's old belongings, including photos, travel documents, and other personal items. When the man heard his bag had been found, he was shocked. He never expected to see those things again after six decades.

It is a rare and moving moment. It reminds us how much the earth is changing as glaciers shrink, but it also gave a man a piece of his younger self back after a lifetime.
