A Hiker Lost His Backpack in a Glacier 60 Years Ago. Now, He Finally Got It Back

An 86-year-old man in Austria is reunited with his belongings after a near-fatal hiking accident in 1963.

Back in 1963, a 23-year-old hiker was exploring the mountains in Austria. Suddenly, he fell into a deep crack in the ice, known as a crevasse. To survive the fall, he had to leave his backpack behind. He eventually made it out, but he thought his bag was gone forever. Now, 60 years later, that same man is 86 years old. Because of rising temperatures, the glacier melted enough to reveal the lost bag. Hikers passing by the area found it and turned it in to the local police.
