A scary incident on a FlyDubai flight has left travelers stranded and regional tensions high. Someone attacked a pilot inside the cockpit, leading to a major security concern.
Because of the attack and the general unease in the area—which is already on edge due to the war between the U.S. and Iran—many Israelis currently in Dubai have been unable to get home as planned.
In response, Israeli airlines are stepping in to help. Arkia has sent the first of several planned rescue flights to bring these travelers safely back to Tel Aviv.
Not everyone is happy about how this is being handled, though. A source in the United Arab Emirates has criticized Israel for calling these trips "rescue flights," suggesting it might be an overreaction or a political move following the incident.
Right now, experts are asking serious questions about how someone was able to get into a cockpit to attack a pilot. It is a major safety issue that has many people worried about flying in the region while tensions remain high.
