A terrible disaster happened in Conakry, the capital city of Guinea. A massive pile of trash at a landfill collapsed. The heavy rain caused the mountain of garbage to slide down, burying nearby homes.
Officials say at least 30 people have died. Some reports suggest the number could be as high as 31. At least 22 other people were hurt in the slide.
Rescue workers and local people are currently at the scene. They are digging through the heavy trash and debris to look for survivors. The atmosphere in the area is full of sadness and anger. People living nearby are upset about the lack of safety at the site.
