People in Iran are waiting in long lines to get gas for their cars. Many gas stations have run out of fuel entirely. This is happening as the country feels the weight of tough new economic sanctions from the United States.
Sanctions are basically rules that stop countries from trading with each other. The U.S. put these rules in place to put pressure on Iran’s government. Now, that pressure is showing up at the gas pumps.
While drivers are frustrated, it is not clear yet if this will change how Iran's leaders act. Even with the shortages, the government has signaled that they might raise the price of fuel soon.
Reports from several news agencies show that the problem is widespread. People are lining up to fill their tanks, worried that fuel will become even harder to find or much more expensive in the coming days.
For now, the situation remains tense. The combination of the U.S. blockade and local fuel issues is making daily life much harder for people living in Iran.
