Iran is finding ways to sell its fuel to other countries, even though the United States has put strict rules in place to stop them.
New data shows that Iran has managed to ship liquid petroleum gas (LPG) and jet fuel to places like Myanmar. These sales are happening despite a US blockade—which is basically a plan to stop trade and hurt a country's economy by making it impossible for them to move goods in or out.
Even though Iran is still moving some fuel, the country's economy is having a very hard time. Reports show that Iran’s total oil production has dropped. It is now making less than 2 million barrels of oil per day.
Experts say the US blockade is working to squeeze Iran’s money supply. At the same time, the Iranian government is dealing with internal problems. There are questions about why middlemen—the people who help sell the oil—owe the government billions of dollars.
So, while Iran is still finding secret ways to trade, it is clear that they are struggling to keep up with their normal business under all this pressure.
