Indonesia Faces Dangerous Air Pollution from Forest Fires

Indonesia is dealing with a serious problem right now. Large forest fires are burning, and they are sending thick clouds of smoke across the country.
The air has become very hard to breathe. Some people say being outside feels just like smoking a cigarette because the air is so dirty.
This is happening because of a weather event called 'El Niño.' This is a natural pattern that makes the world much warmer and drier than usual. Because it hasn't rained enough, the forests are very dry. This makes it extremely easy for fires to start and spread quickly.
Experts are worried about the health of the people living there. Breathing in this much smoke can make it hard to breathe and cause long-term health issues. Officials are working to control the flames, but the dry weather is making their job very difficult.
