Over 100 missing after ferry sinks in Indonesia

Rescuers are searching the Java Sea for people after a passenger ship went down. At least 6 people have died.

A passenger ferry has sunk in the Java Sea in Indonesia, and a major rescue mission is underway.

Officials say the ship was carrying about 240 people. Right now, more than 100 people are still missing. Sadly, at least 6 people have been confirmed dead.

Rescuers are working in very tough conditions. The waves are rough and the water is turbulent, making it hard to search for survivors. Ships and rescue teams are doing everything they can to find those who are still out at sea.

The search is currently focused on the area where the ship lost contact. Families are waiting for news as boats continue to scour the water for any signs of the missing passengers. We will update this story as more information becomes available.
