Iran says it wants to stop fighting and fix the deal with the US
After a recent exchange of fire, Iran is asking the US to honor past agreements to help calm the situation.

Things have been tense between Iran and the United States recently, with reports of both sides firing at each other. But now, Iran is sending a message that it wants to cool things down.
Iran’s president says that continuing to fight is not what they want. He mentioned that a war is not in anyone’s best interest.
To help make things better, Iran is asking the US to stick to the rules of an old agreement—often called a Memorandum of Understanding or an interim deal. Iran says that if the US honors its side of that deal, Iran will do the same.
There is still a lot of work to be done. Even though both sides have been shooting at each other as recently as today, the leaders in Tehran are now saying they are open to talking about peace again.
It is not yet clear exactly how the US will respond or what specific steps will be taken to stop the fighting for good. For now, the focus is on whether the two countries can go back to their previous ceasefire agreement.
