The Israeli military says it has killed a high-ranking Hamas commander. This man was a leader of the Nukhba force, which is an elite unit within Hamas.

Officials say he played a key role in the October 7 attack. Specifically, he was one of the people who broke into the Re'im army base that day.

He was killed during a targeted airstrike in Gaza. The Israeli military stated that removing him from the battlefield is part of their effort to stop the threat Hamas poses to the country.

In related news, the Israeli military also carried out several other strikes today. They targeted and damaged Hamas weapons storage buildings and places where the group hides its rocket launchers. These strikes are part of the ongoing war in the region.
