Italy’s leader, Giorgia Meloni, is worried about how Europe is handling the war in Ukraine. She says European countries are acting like a group of individuals rather than a team. Because of this, she fears Europe is becoming irrelevant in important peace talks.

Meloni recently criticized the European Union, calling their approach “disjointed.” She means the EU is not speaking with one voice, which makes it hard for them to have a real impact on how the war might end. She thinks this lack of coordination is a big problem that needs to be fixed right away.

Other leaders are starting to take notice. Antonio Costa, who represents the EU, agrees with Meloni. He admitted that there is a lot of “disarray” regarding the peace process. He promised that the EU will now work to better coordinate their efforts so they can be a stronger player on the world stage.

Right now, the situation is messy. Different countries have different ideas about how to talk to Russia and Ukraine. Meloni says this confusion weakens Europe’s position. If Europe wants to help bring peace, she says they must stop acting separately and start working as a single, united group.
