The Labour Party is cutting ties with the Green Party in 11 different local councils. This means they will no longer work together to run these areas.
The reason for the split is a disagreement over Israel. The Green Party has a policy that describes Zionism—which is the belief that Jewish people have the right to their own country—as racism. Labour leadership is strongly against this idea.
Because of this, Labour has decided it can no longer share power with the Greens.
Some people in the Green Party are worried about where the group is headed. Adrian Ramsay, a former co-leader of the Green Party, said the party is at a "crossroads" right now. He thinks they need to be careful not to let the "hard left" side of politics take too much control.
This decision marks a big change in local government. For now, it leaves several councils in the UK without their usual political agreements, as the two parties move apart.
