Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says that overthrowing the government in Iran is now a main goal for Israel. He believes the Iranian regime is weaker today than it has ever been in the past.

Netanyahu spoke about this recently, calling the removal of the current leadership in Tehran a 'central mission.' He told the public that he believes this goal is finally 'within reach.'

Beyond just talking about a change in government, Netanyahu also said he supports the United States putting tougher financial punishments—known as sanctions—on Iran. He expressed deep doubt that any diplomatic deal or peaceful agreement with Iran’s current leaders would be useful or successful.

His comments come at a time of high tension between the two countries. By calling for an end to the regime, Netanyahu is signaling a major shift in how Israel plans to handle its biggest regional rival. While he says the task is now possible, he did not give specific details on how Israel plans to make that happen.
