Pope Leo XIV is getting ready for surgery. Doctors found a small growth, or a "nodule," on one of his lungs. Because of this, he is going to the hospital in the next few days to have it removed.
News outlets including the BBC, CNN, and The Hill confirmed the surgery is scheduled for the coming days. The Pope remains active while preparing for the procedure. In fact, he just shared a new message asking for peace in Ukraine.
People all over the world are reacting to the news. Church leaders in the United States have asked everyone to pray for the Pope as he gets ready for the surgery and his recovery.
