Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a new order that changes how the government deals with companies damaged during the war.
Under this new rule, the Russian state can take temporary control of businesses that are hit by Ukrainian drone attacks.
This applies specifically to companies or factories that the government feels are not doing enough to protect themselves from these strikes. By taking control, the government says it wants to make sure these sites are better guarded and that work keeps going, even if the businesses themselves aren't able to manage the repairs or security on their own.
For months, Ukraine has been using long-range drones to target Russian infrastructure. This includes oil refineries, storage depots, and other industrial sites deep inside Russia. These attacks have caused fires and slowed down production.
Now, if a facility is damaged, the government can step in and run things. Critics worry that this is just another way for the state to grab more power over private businesses. The Kremlin says the goal is just to keep the country’s important services running smoothly during the conflict.
