Russian and German Foreign Ministers Meet for First Time in Years

The top diplomats from Germany and Russia spoke while attending a United Nations meeting in New York.

For the first time in over two years, the top foreign officials from Germany and Russia have sat down to talk. The two met on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. Since Russia started its war in Ukraine in 2022, the two countries have kept their distance. Official high-level meetings between their governments have been extremely rare.
