A former top Russian official says the country is headed for big trouble. Mikhail Zadornov, who used to be Russia's Finance Minister, says the country should not be trying to run a 'military economy.'
A military economy means a country focuses almost all of its money and work on building weapons and supplies for war. Zadornov thinks this is a bad idea. He calls the current situation a 'complete breakdown of the system.'
In plain words, he believes that focusing so heavily on the war is hurting Russia's ability to keep its regular economy running. When a country spends all its resources on fighting, it struggles to produce the things people need for their daily lives.
Zadornov’s warning highlights concerns that Russia’s financial future is at risk as long as they stay on this path.
