A woman from Sydney is sharing her terrifying story of survival after a shark attack. She described the experience as being like “fighting a dinosaur.”
The woman, a mother, was attacked while swimming at Coogee. During the struggle, she had to act fast to save her life. She said she threw a punch at the shark to get it to let go. Sadly, she suffered injuries so severe that she had to have her arm amputated.
She recently talked about the split-second decisions she had to make. She recalled thinking about which limb she was willing to lose to survive the encounter.
Following the attack, the community rallied around her. A GoFundMe page was set up to help with her recovery and medical costs. The page saw an amazing amount of support from people everywhere. The woman has since decided to shut down the fundraiser, as the donations have already been enough to help her move forward.
Her story has made headlines across the world. It serves as a reminder of how dangerous the ocean can be, but also of how strong a person can be when fighting for their life.
