Ukraine launched a major drone attack inside Russia overnight. The strikes targeted two key locations: an oil refinery in the Yaroslavl region and an airbase at Engels.

The attack on the oil refinery caused a fire. Reports from the area say at least one person was killed during the strike. The facility is a vital part of Russia’s oil business, and damage there could disrupt the processing of fuel.

Separately, Ukrainian forces also targeted the Engels airbase. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that they struck a Tu-95MS bomber plane. Russia uses these long-range bombers to launch missile attacks against cities in Ukraine.

Several news outlets, including Bloomberg and various Ukrainian agencies, reported the attacks. The strike on the Engels base is seen as a significant move, as it directly aims at the planes Russia uses to carry out its ongoing air war.

These attacks are part of a growing effort by Ukraine to use long-range drones to hit military and industrial targets deep inside Russian territory.
