Vatican official tells Russia: The war in Ukraine must stop

A top official from the Vatican just finished a trip to Moscow. His name is Archbishop Paul Gallagher. He acts as the Vatican’s foreign minister, which means he handles the Pope's talks with other countries.
While in Russia, Gallagher was very clear. He told Russian leaders that the war in Ukraine has to end. He said it was time for the fighting to stop.
During his trip, Gallagher also visited a major Orthodox cathedral in Moscow. This was a significant moment because the Catholic Church and the Russian Orthodox Church have had a complicated relationship lately.
Some people in Russia have not been happy with the Vatican. In fact, some Russian voices have even spread conspiracy theories about the Pope's team. Despite this, Gallagher went straight to the Russian capital to deliver the Vatican’s message.
Gallagher’s visit is a big deal because the Vatican usually tries to stay neutral. By sending such a high-level official to Moscow to demand an end to the war, they are showing how serious they are about wanting peace.
