The war in Ukraine has entered a new phase. Military experts say that Russia is having a hard time making progress on the actual front lines where soldiers are fighting face-to-face. Because they are stuck, Russia has changed its tactics.
Instead of moving forward on the ground, Russia is now hitting Ukrainian cities with more force. Reports show that Russia is stepping up its campaign of terror against places like Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine.
Analysts from the Institute for the Study of War and other monitoring groups have been tracking the situation closely. They note that even though Russia is making only very small gains in territory, they are paying a huge price. They are losing a massive number of soldiers and equipment to get those tiny bits of land.
Even with these high losses, the attacks on cities continue. This strategy seems to be an attempt to hurt Ukraine's infrastructure and break the spirit of the people living there.
As we reach day 1,712 of the invasion, the situation remains dangerous and tense. Russia is currently focusing on air attacks as their ground forces struggle to push forward.
