China asks Iran to stop Houthi attacks on ships
After Saudi Arabia asked for help, China is now pressuring Iran to stop the Houthis from attacking ships in the Red Sea.

There is a lot of trouble in the Red Sea right now. The Houthi rebels are attacking ships as they sail through this important area. These ships carry things like oil and goods for the whole world. Because of these attacks, the world is worried, and oil prices have started to drop.
Saudi Arabia recently asked for help to stop these attacks. Now, China is stepping in. Reports say that Chinese officials have told Iran to control the Houthis. Iran has a lot of influence over the Houthi group, and China has a close relationship with Iran.
This is a big deal because the United States—under President-elect Donald Trump—has said it will not help fight the Houthis in this area. Because the U.S. is stepping back, Saudi Arabia turned to China. Now, China is acting as a kind of bridge to try to keep the peace.
China wants these trade routes to stay open so that business can keep moving. If the attacks stop, it will be better for everyone who relies on oil and shipping. We are still waiting to see if Iran will listen to China and get the Houthis to stop their attacks.
