Donna Brazile is a well-known Democratic strategist. She recently talked about how her party is feeling heading into the midterm elections.
Some people are worried that Democrats might be getting too confident. They call this feeling "hopium"—which is a mix of the words hope and opium. It describes when someone is so hopeful that they ignore the actual risks or bad signs.
Brazile says that isn't the case. She told reporters that the party is not overconfident. Instead, she says they are working hard.
She pointed specifically to Ohio. She thinks the political map is getting wider, meaning more states are becoming competitive. Because of this, she is predicting a good night for Democrats in Ohio.
Even though polls and outside experts often have different views, Brazile believes the work the party is doing will pay off when voters head to the polls.
