Europe is watching the war in Ukraine closely. They see how Russia uses cheap, small drones to fight. Now, many European countries think the best way to prepare for war is to just buy as many of these cheap drones as they can.
Experts at The Kyiv Independent say this is the wrong lesson to learn.
While drones are important, they aren't a magic fix. A drone is just one tool in a toolbox. If you only focus on one tool, you leave yourself open to other problems.
Wars are still won by having strong, well-trained soldiers and reliable supplies. You need trucks to move gear, doctors to fix injuries, and steady communication lines. You also need big weapons to stop tanks and heavy artillery.
If Europe only builds up its drone fleet, they might find themselves unprepared for a real, full-scale war. Building a strong military takes a lot of time, money, and planning. It is much harder than just buying drones.
The real lesson should be that a modern military needs balance. You need the high-tech stuff, but you also need the boring, basic things that keep an army running. Relying only on cheap drones is a risky move that could leave Europe weak when it matters most.
