France and Germany are worried about the huge amount of products coming from China. They say there are so many cheap Chinese goods arriving in Europe that it is becoming a major problem.
Because these products are sold for such low prices, it is hard for European companies to compete. Leaders in France and Germany believe this is unfair. They are now working on a plan to create "storm gates"—or new trade rules—to control this flow of goods.
Basically, they want a new tool or weapon to help protect European businesses. This would make it easier for the European Union to block or limit imports that they feel are being sold at unfairly low prices.
Officials in Europe have noticed a big rise in these imports recently. They are concerned that if they do not do something now, local shops and factories could get hurt or even go out of business.
While this is being pushed by France and Germany, the European Commission also agrees that the rise in imports from China is a worry. Everyone involved is now looking for a way to make sure the trade between Europe and China stays fair for everyone.
