Heavy rain hits central Japan: One dead, dozens hurt as flooding spreads

Heavy rain has caused serious problems across central Japan.
In Nagoya, the water has flooded homes and streets. Sadly, one person has died, and more than 40 people are hurt. The rain has damaged important parts of the city’s infrastructure.
However, there is some good news for sports fans. Officials say the venues being used for the Asian Games are safe and the athletes are all okay.
Further away, a landslide happened on the slopes of Mount Fuji. A landslide is when a large amount of dirt and rocks slides down a mountain after the ground gets soaked with too much water.
Weather experts warn that the rain is not over yet. They say more heavy rain is expected to hit the Tokai and Kanto-Koshin regions soon. People in these areas should stay alert and keep an eye on the news for updates.
