There is a lot of talk right now about ending the war between Russia and Ukraine. Donald Trump, who will be the next U.S. President, says he wants to set up a meeting between Russian leader Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy very soon.
Trump suggested that a deal to end the fighting might be close, perhaps even before the G20 summit happens in December. The G20 is a big meeting where leaders from the world's most powerful countries get together.
President Zelenskyy says he hopes to have talks involving the U.S., Russia, and Ukraine by November 10. Ukraine has also signaled that they are willing to talk about the land involved in the war, which is a major shift.
However, it is not all smooth sailing. While Putin has said he is open to a phone call with Zelenskyy, many people in Ukraine are very suspicious. They worry that a call or a meeting might just be a trap set by the Kremlin to trick them.
For now, the world is watching closely. Everyone is waiting to see if Trump can actually get the two sides to talk and if a real peace deal is possible.
