Israel is moving ahead with plans to build more settlements in the West Bank. These are places where Israeli citizens live on land that the Palestinians hope will be part of their future country.
Many countries are unhappy about this. They say these building projects make it much harder to reach a "two-state solution." That is the plan where Israel and a new Palestinian country would live side-by-side in peace.
Critics say these new buildings could essentially "bury" the chance for that peace deal to ever happen. Because of this, groups like the European Union and countries like Canada have spoken out against the plan.
The United States has said it is against these actions. However, the U.S. has been careful not to condemn this specific plan directly.
Meanwhile, the United Kingdom is thinking about a new rule. They are considering a ban on trading with businesses that operate inside these settlements. If they go through with it, it would make it much harder for those businesses to sell their goods in the UK.
For now, the situation remains tense as the Israeli government continues to expand its presence in the area.
