The Israeli military says it has killed a Hamas commander in Gaza. They claim this man was responsible for holding hostages taken during the October 7 attack. Israel considers him a high-value target.
At the same time, medical workers in Gaza report that Israeli airstrikes have killed several other people. According to these local reports, the victims include at least one young child.
Various news outlets have confirmed the deaths from different parts of the Gaza Strip throughout the day. In central Gaza, a man was killed after his home was hit by a drone strike. Another report mentions a separate strike that killed three people, including a child. A different incident resulted in one more person being reported dead.
These events are part of the ongoing fighting between Israel and Hamas in the region. There is no official word yet on how many total people were hurt or killed in these specific strikes, but hospitals and medical teams are currently working to manage the situation.
