Israel held an election, but nobody won. Final results show that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s group does not have enough seats in parliament to stay in power.
His rivals don't have enough seats to take control, either. This means both sides are stuck. They cannot form a new government on their own.
A big reason for this is a high number of voters from the Arab community. Many Palestinian citizens of Israel turned out to vote in record numbers. For a long time, many in this group did not vote. Now, their support has helped shift the power balance.
Because no one has a clear majority, it is very hard to predict what will happen next. Netanyahu has been the leader for a long time, but he is now at risk of losing his job. He has been speaking out strongly against the Arab parties, trying to get more support for his side.
Leaders now have to figure out how to work with others to build a coalition. A coalition is when different political parties agree to team up to reach the majority they need. If they cannot agree, the country might have to hold another election soon.
