A Russian attack has hit public buses in eastern Ukraine. At least 30 to 33 people have been confirmed dead. This is one of the deadliest single attacks we have seen all year.
Reports coming in from several major news sources confirm the heavy toll. The buses were in an area where Russia is currently pushing hard to take over more land. This area is often called Ukraine’s ‘fortress belt.’ This means it is a place where Ukrainian soldiers have built strong defenses to keep Russia out.
At the same time, the situation in other parts of the country is also getting harder. People in the capital city, Kyiv, are dealing with more power outages.
Experts say this latest strike is part of a larger plan by Russia to break down Ukraine's transport system. By hitting buses and roads, they are trying to make it harder for people to move around and for the country to function.
Official numbers are still changing as rescue teams go through the site of the attack. We will keep you updated as we learn more.
