A trial has started in Mexico for three men accused of killing two Australian brothers and their American friend.
The victims were Jake and Callum Robinson from Australia and their friend, Jack Carter Rhoad, from the United States. They were on a surfing trip in Baja, Mexico, when they disappeared earlier this year.
Their bodies were later found in a deep well. Prosecutors say the three men on trial killed the surfers during a failed attempt to steal their truck. The attackers allegedly wanted the truck's tires to use on their own vehicle.
The parents of the Australian brothers have traveled to Mexico for the court proceedings. They have said they are looking for answers about what happened to their sons.
During the first day of the trial, witnesses and officials began presenting evidence to the court. The trial is expected to shed light on the final moments of the three men. Their deaths caused shock and sadness around the world, especially within the surfing community.
